Jeff Skaggs
Jeff Skaggs oversees the creative team as VP of Creative at Creative Nation. His team manages and develops the songwriting careers of proven hitmakers, producers, artists and up and comers, and is responsible for the day-to-day publishing operations. The Creative Nation roster includes Luke Laird, Barry Dean, Lori McKenna, Tyler Johnson, Bear Rinehart, Kassi Ashton, Steve Moakler, Alec Bailey, Travis Wood, Jonathan Hutcherson and Casey Brown.
Jeff grew up in rural Kentucky, moving to Nashville to attend Middle Tennessee State University, graduating from their Music Business program in 2003. He got his footing in the Nashville music business at DreamWorks Records, interning for A&R head Allison Jones before being hired on full-time. When DreamWorks folded under the Universal Music Group umbrella, Jeff was brought on by Scott Borchetta at UMG to handle a temporary assignment.
After that assignment was completed, Jeff began his publishing career with veteran music publisher, Whitney Daane, at her independent publishing company called Mighty Isis Music. Jeff flourished in the role of song plugger and was instrumental in Mighty Isis Music’s transition into forming Kobalt Music’s Nashville office. After nine years of helping grow the Mighty Isis/Kobalt Nashville office, Jeff left in 2014 to help Beth and Luke Laird build Creative Nation’s publishing branch.
