NSAI'S "ADOPT-A-SHOP"

NSAI’s "Adopt-A-Shop" program is a mentoring program that matches professional songwriters with the members of NSAI's 100 plus worldwide chapters through the "NSAI Regional Workshops Program".

The program is composed of professional songwriters who have volunteered to serve as a direct liaison to a Regional Workshop. Each pro writer will be in touch with his or her adopted workshop through its coordinator once a month for one year. Whenever possible, writers were matched with chapters where they either live, moved from, have relatives, vacation, or travel.

Some of the ways the professional songwriters assist are by answering questions through e-mail, holding online chats or when possible, personally visiting their workshop.

"Every craft is learned by the craftsmen and women who came before them and the songwriting craft is no different. A mentoring program is essential in developing the next generation of songwriters," said former Adopt-A-Shop Pro Songwriter Jeff Prince. "Having personal access to a member of the pro writing community is a great benefit. Sharing their experience not only offers a link to the music community, it provides encouragement and inspiration, as well."
