A member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, Kenny is NSAI’s longest-serving Board member. An Oklahoma native raised in California, Kenny worked with guitar legend Duane Eddy before moving to Nashville in 1970 to run Bobby Goldsboro’s publishing company. Kenny’s songwriting credits include “Behind Closed Doors” (1973 Grammy for Best Country Song, the Academy of Country Music’s 1973 Song and Single of the Year, the Country Music Association’s 1973 Song and Single of the Year), The Judds’ “Mama He’s Crazy” (NSAI’s 1984 Song of the Year, BMI’s 1984 Country Song of the Year), Tanya Tucker’s “Lizzie And The Rainman,” Loretta Lynn’s “Trouble In Paradise,” Charlie Rich’s “I Take It On Home” and Billie Jo Spears’ “What I’ve Got In Mind.” Kenny was NSAI’s 1984 Songwriter of the Year. |
