Tulsa Chapter Ole Challenge Winner

Wednesday, April 24, 2019 - 8:13pm

Congradulations to Kallie Medley for rising to the top in our 2019 Ole Challenge extended to each chapter by our NSAI Headquarters Team and Ole Publishing in Nashville. This qualifies Kallie's heart felt composition "Burn It Down" to be condidered for a single song contract with Ole. The kind of loyal love found in this art piece makes it a jewel of a story. We're all rooting for her and can't wait to hear what flows from her pen next. We're proud of you Kallie!

Congradulations To Matt Shannon for a close runner up effort simply titled "Dandelion". Matt and co-writer Brett Richisin cleverly constructed this deep look at the realities that color a hard life and the courage to own it.

Co-Writing Preparation

Thursday, October 11, 2018 - 4:38pm

NSAI Tulsa Songwriters,

Co-writing is where it's at today, be it Nashville, L.A., or New York.  It's natural for most songwriters to be wary of the process as they began their endeavors in a solitaire mode.  In our next workshop we'll look at how one of todays iconic writers learned to cope with fear in his first high profile collaboration.  His demeanor going in, "Was I intimidated by the prospect of this collaboration? No, intimidated doesn't even come close to describing how I felt.  Terrified, petrified, and panic-stricken come much closer".  We'll find out what his solution was and how we can use the same solutions in our songwriting.  Look for details of next week's Oct. 18th. meeting coming soon!

"Surviving A Cowrite"

Friday, July 13, 2018 - 10:58am

Cowrite - noun -  A collaboration between two or more songwriters to bring to life a song from a germ of an idea.   May produce feelings of terror or exhilaration.  It has been proven the antidote for terror is repeated participation.  Unfortunately, despite best efforts by science  exhilaration is a life long affliction with no cure in sight.
