Brittany will be talking about our monthly content themes for August & September- Publishing Deals & Record Label Deals. She is an attorney at Loeb & Loeb, LLP in Nashville and will be giving general advice on these types of deals.

Brittany Schaffer’s practice includes a diverse range of music and entertainment transactions and broad-based litigation focused on copyright, right of publicity and entertainment matters. Her unique blend of transactional and litigation skills gives her a broad knowledge of the music and entertainment industries, makes her highly effective in negotiations, and enables her to service clients and the industry at large in a variety of capacities. Brittany works with established and rising recording artists, songwriters, producers, and branded personalities, as well as record, publishing, video production, live stage production, management, and digital companies. She handles everything from drafting and negotiating recording, songwriting, and producer agreements to setting up touring corporations, negotiating sponsorship & endorsement deals, evaluating complex copyright matters, and providing advice and counsel on artist and brand development and protection. Her experience and relationships with talent and music-based companies, as well as her knowledge of the music industry and its interplay with copyright law, allows her to work closely with television networks and production companies, popular websites, digital startups, large corporations, sports networks, and advertising agencies to develop music strategies and lead licensing efforts. Brittany’s vast experience in the music space gave rise to her participation in the U.S. Copyright Office Roundtable on Music Licensing Reform held in Nashville in June 2014. As the youngest participant in the public roundtable, and the only female on a majority of panels, Brittany petitioned for music licensing reform on behalf of music publishers and songwriters against Washington, D.C. veterans lobbying for the interests of digital companies, broadcasters and record labels. In 2015, Brittany was recognized as being among the leading “Women in Music City” by the Nashville Business Journal and was the only lawyer named in Variety’s “Music City Impact Report,” recognizing her as one of the most influential people in Nashville’s entertainment industry. Brittany was also named one of Hollywood’s New Leaders by Variety magazine in 2012, a Mid-South “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters business, for 2012-2017, and was one of Nashville’s 2014 Top 30 Under 30.
