LIVE WORKSHOP: Morning Pitch with Preston Berger (Black River Publishing)

Weekly Nashville Workshops

Thu, 09/22/2022 - 11:00am

Pitch your song and connect with other writers at this LIVE WORKSHOP held in-person at NSAI!

This is a member-only event, and you must be present to pitch.

This event will take place in person at NSAI:

1710 Roy Acuff Pl. Nashville, TN 37203

Doors will open at 10:15am CST

If you plan to pitch a song, please be prepared with an MP3 version that you can easily play from your phone, along with two lyric sheets for the song you chose.

(Cassette tapes will not be accepted.)

For this pitch, we will be listening to the first verse and first chorus of each song, taking up to 50 songs in total.

If you arrive earlier than 10:15am, you will be asked to wait in line, on the covered porch. Members from over 75 miles outside of Davidson County or over a two-hour drive will be given priority.

Once inside, you will sign in at the front desk and give your lyrics sheets of the song you chose, to the receptionist.

NSAI Weekly Workshops take place in our studio.

Please note that food and drink are NOT permitted in the studio.

NSAI does not require you to wear a mask, but we encourage you to do what feels most comfortable.

You are able to pitch one song per day. If you would like to attend both morning and evening pitch sessions, you are allowed one song to be pitched at one session and attend as an observer at the other session.

If you are unable to attend this workshop in person, please note that it will not be re-distributed for later viewing.

NSAI non-members are permitted to observe two workshops prior to joining at no cost. If you have attended more than two workshops as a non-member, you will be asked to join NSAI as a member to fully benefit from membership and attend future events.

Limited parking will be available in the NSAI parking lot.

Additional parking is available on the street and in neighboring paid lots.

This pitch to publisher event is for members only. There are limited spots available for pitch. This event will not take a credit from your account.

Preston Berger joins Black River Publishing as Creative Manager and is a Lawrenceville, GA native. While he may not have realized it at the time, Berger was training to be in the music industry while driving around with his father listening to music. His father would say, “Preston, listen to the words.”

Berger went on to attend UGA, focusing on advertising and marketing, yet music continued to manifest in his life. While attending UGA, he started a non-profit called Breaking the Shackles. To encourage donations and help to end human trafficking. Berger continues to serve on the board.

After his 2018 graduation, Berger moved to Nashville, met CAA’s Jeff Gregg, and ultimately spent almost two years working for the company. Coincidently, he also toured with The Band CAMINO – one of the very bands he once booked for his college charity events – as VIP Coordinator and Merch Rep.

Through it all, Preston listened to the words, and it showed. Everyone kept saying to me, “Hey Preston, have you heard about publishing?” said Berger. “All of the people closest to me were pushing me in that direction.”

“I am overwhelmed with gratitude to work with such a great catalog at Black River and to be a part of such an amazing group of creatives and writers.” He continued, “I have this sense of responsibility to do everything I can to find the right homes for these incredible songs.”
