Whitney Ingram

Whitney Ingram was born and raised in Houston, TX. Growing up, immersed in traditional country music, she dreamed of one day being just like Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn and all the others that sang out of her dad’s truck speakers on those long drives every other weekend. At 12 years old, Whitney was given an old hand-me down recorder, and quickly her appreciation for lyrics and songwriting grew into an obsession. As a teenager, Whitney was actively involved with her high school choir, and was accepted into an elite show choir after her Freshman year. She also sang competitively auditioning for the Texas All State Choir, landing many 1st chairs in her district, and region, along the way. In 2011 Whitney moved to Nashville to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree at Belmont University, dreaming the same dreams she had as a child. Upon arriving to Nashville, and beginning her undergraduate studies at Belmont, Whitney quickly realized another passion which was deeply important to her. Through volunteer work, and much consideration, Whitney eventually changed her major from Music Business to Social Work. She knew she was taking a risk, but believed this path as an advocate was the path that would grow her into the woman she was meant to be, and hoped eventually, somehow, she’d find her way back into the music industry. After pursuing a career in Social Work, working with survivors of domestic violence at the District Attorney’s Office in Houston, an opportunity she could not refuse to finally combine her two passions, called her name from Music City. Presently she is proudly serving the Nashville Songwriters Association as an advocate for songwriters, and Membership Representative.
In addition to her role as Membership Representative, Whitney books the Nashville Weekly Workshops on Thursday nights, oversees the NSAI Song Evaluation Service, books performers at the NSAI sponsored airport stage, and is in charge of planning and booking membership events including the Tin Pan South Songwriting Seminar, Song Camp and Advanced Song Camp.
