Nashville Songwriter Awards Congratulate Luke Combs on Earning NSAI Songwriter-Artist of the Year

'10 Songs I Wish I'd Written' to be Revealed October 5th; 'Song of the Year' on October 6th

The Nashville Songwriter Awards presented by City National Bank would like to congratulate award-winning country star Luke Combs on being named their 2020 Songwriter-Artist of the Year! This marks the second consecutive year Combs has received this honor, which takes into account the percentage of a Nashville-associated song the artist recorded that he/she is credited with writing and the song's performance on a week to week basis in the Top 20 of the Billboard Country Airplay, Pop Songs, Christian Airplay or Rock Airplay charts.

The 3rd Annual Nashville Songwriter Awards presented by City National Bank and produced by the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) are being presented as a multi-part video series with key categories exclusively premiered by Billboard, the official media partner of the awards. Check out the video announcing Combs' win here.

Combs is a multi-platinum, ACM, CMA, CMT, and Billboard Music Award-winning artist from Asheville, NC, who stormed onto the music landscape as one of music's brightest stars. His acclaimed, platinum-certified new album, What You See Is What You Get, was released last fall via River House Artists/Columbia Nashville and debuted at #1 on both the all-genre Billboard200 chart as well as Billboard's Top Country Albums chart. The album spent 25 weeks at #1 on the Top Country Albums chart, making Combs the first artist ever to have their first two studio albums spend 25 weeks or more at #1-breaking Taylor Swift's previously held record at 24 weeks.

Additionally, Combs' first eight singles all reached #1-a first on Billboard's Country Airplay chart-extending his record-breaking streak at country radio. Adding to his groundbreaking and historic year, Combs took home honors in two categories at the 2020 ACM Awards: Male Artist of the Year and Album of the Year, while earning a nomination for Entertainer of the Year. Combs was recently nominated for three CMT Music Awards for Video of the Year, Male Video of the Year, and CMT Performance of the Year. Moreover, his triple Platinum debut album, This One's For You, spent 50 non-consecutive weeks at #1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart-tying the record for longest reign atop the chart-and was the most-streamed country album of 2019.

"I am very humbled to be NSAI Songwriter/Artist of the Year. It means so much to me as a guy who writes his own songs, and really cares about that, and really enjoys the craft of songwriting. I couldn't do any of this without great songwriters like Jonathan Singleton, Randy Montana, and Ray Fulcher in my corner. Jonathan and Randy are two of the best songwriters in Nashville and I'm thankful they took a chance on me and were willing to write with a kid who didn't have anywhere close to the resume they do. Ray is one of my best friends and is undoubtedly making a career for himself. We got into this at the same time and I'm lucky our paths crossed. My career is a blur and a dream come true, but to be able to enjoy it with one of your best friends is the best part of it all. Thank you guys for everything you do for myself, for Nashville, for Music Row, for songwriters, we love you guys. Thank you so much."
- Luke Combs
