REMINDER, Philadephia Chapter Meeting on Thursday, May 18

Just a reminder that we'll be meeting again this Thursday May 18,

Follow entrance to the back of the building. Plenty of parking.

We'll talk about"Co-Writing," looking at the pros, discuss successful tips and answer some common questions.
If time allows, we'll breakout in small groups of two or three to try our hand at cowriting.

This is a fun exercise to practice and build collaborative relationships, and can be great start to a new song and continued collaboration! The results are always interesting!

Philadelphia Chapter Meeting Thursday, MAY 18, 7 PM

Thanks to everyone who submitted songs for the April Chapter Challenge. We have talented songwriters in our group, so voting on a winner was a tough choice! Congratulations to our Philadelphia Chapter Finalist, DB Lambert, and runner up David Clarence Hartranft.

We'll be meeting in person again on Thursday May 18, and explore the subject of "Co-Writing," looking at the pros, discuss successful tips and answer some common questions about co-writing. If time allows, we'll breakout in small groups of two or three to try our hand at cowriting. This is a fun exercise and the results always interesting, and can be a great start to a new song and a continued collaboration!

Song feedback is a part of every meeting. It is very helpful to have lyrics to share for the best feedback. You can perform your song live or have an MP3 to play for the group.

April 27 Chapter Challenge Song Contest

I apologize for getting this information to you at the last minute. Between travels ant other glitches, we got held up in getting this to you in a more timely manner. The prizes are awesome, so don't miss the opportunity to win!

Remember, ONE SONG per member for the contest.
The Member’s song that receives the most votes at the meeting will be forwarded to NSAI. In the event of a tie, both songs will be submitted to the Chapter Director and the NSAI team will vote to break the tie and to determine the song going to Round 2.

Next - NSAI has an appointed committee that will listen to all song submissions from Members who were selected by their Chapter, along with each Coordinator entry.

The committee will choose the top 20 submissions.

Chapter Co-coordinator and multi-award winning songwriter Liz Miller will lead us in a "song dissection" exercise -- using current hit song(s) -- to analyze the structure and other aspects of commercially successful song(s). We'll then apply what we learn doing this exercise to evaluating our own songs that we'll be sharing with the group for feedback. This is especially useful for songwriters interested in writing award winning songs for contests, songs to pitch to publishers, submitting songs for sync for film/TV/multi-media, and for radio airplay.

Bring one or two songs to share (depending on number attending we'll evaluate at least one song per songwriter).
(We ask that you to provide lyrics, and will send a Google Cloud link to those who RSVP to attend ... or you can bring 10 copies of your lyrics to pass out to the group.)

We recommend sharing songs that are a work in progress, or that you are willing to re-write (rather than a finished song or produced demo).
