NSAI Glasgow Chapter July Meeting - Zoom

Hi all

How are you?

We are looking forward to catching up with you all at the on-line July meeting!

The Agenda will follow, but meanwhile here are the exercises on July's topic, 'Production and Recording' for you to have a go at :)

JULY EXC: PRODUCTION & RECORDING
"If you had a sign above every studio door saying, 'This Studio is a Musical Instrument,' it would make such a different approach to recording." – Brian Eno

EXERCISES:

1. DO YOUR RESEARCH!

Make a list of 2-3 of some of your favorite artists and research the producers behind their best work. Create a mix similar to the feel of one of these artists using only 5-6 instruments.

2. GET MIC’D UP!

Got a way to record at home? Get mic’d up and test your sound. Find the best places in your space to record your vocals. Listen back to your vocals and how they sound. Are you too close to the mic or not close enough? The best way to get comfortable with tech is by working with it.

3. LEARN THE TERMS

You don't have to be a whiz in the studio, but it doesn't hurt to familarize yourself with some technical terms. Recording – be it at home or in a studio is something doesn't have to be unfamilar terrority. And when you start to look at the basics, there are a few terms that you will keep coming across – a glossary of recording and audio terms. Take the time to learn a few of the these terms.

Catch up again soon, meanwhile remember to check out the Glasgow Chapter Socials for ongoing updates!
