ABOUT KIM MCLEAN: 

Rev. Dr. KIM MCLEAN is a career songwriter with over 300 song credits by artists like country mega-stars Tim McGraw and Lee Ann Womack; blues-greats Bettye LaVette and Shana Morrison; and gospel mainstays The Martins and Sierra. Grammy- nominated, she won the GMA Song of Year for her gospel copyright “Count Your Blessing”. She has also garnered awards from N.S.A.I., ASCAP, and won Just Plain Folks’ Americana Song of the Year. Her songs have been featured regularly on the Grand Ol Opry and in Bill Gather Homecoming Videos. She wrote the theme song, “Oh the Cross” for a four-year Nazarene Missions International campaign and wrote the theme song for the Come to the Fire Christian women’s conference, where she also led worship and led songwriting retreats to create soundtracks of original holiness music. She has produced for Sony, Warner Brothers, Curb, in Nashville and produced several award-winning independent acts on the West Coast. Kim is known for her ability to find the ‘voice’ of the singer in the studio through her original songs and unique production. She has co-authored two books, for Thomas Nelson and Abingdon Press, respectively.

Rev. Dr. McLean holds an MA in Biblical Theology from Trevecca University and a doctorate in Leadership and Professional Practice. She helped develop a songwriting program and curriculum at Trevecca where she served as the Director of the Songwriting Program for over a decade. She is currently pastoring a new church in the West Nashville area called Music City West Church of the Nazarene.

Her most recent work includes a book she co-authored with Loretta Lynn, released in 2023 published through Hachette-Worthy Book Publishers. A companion CD was released through Orchard.

 

HOW TO PARTICIPATE: 

You must be an NSAI Member to fully participate in pitch / feedback workshops.

Bring an MP3 version of your song that you can easily play from your phone, along with two lyric sheets for the song you chose. (Cassette tapes will not be accepted.)

*Members are more than welcome to attend and simply observe the event even if they do not want to submit a song for feedback!

 

We will play the first verse and first chorus of each song and the guest will provide comments/suggestions/feedback.

Up to 30 members can participate and will be played in order of arrival - Members traveling greater than 75 miles or 2 hours from Davidson County will be given priority to participate.*

If you arrive earlier than 5:00pm, please join the line on our covered porch on the Roy Acuff side of building. Once doors open at 5:00pm you will sign in and submit your lyrics sheets of the song you chose, to the receptionist for the event.

Song submission must be the original work of the Songwriter without use of any artificial intelligence, and must not infringe upon the copyrights, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity, or be otherwise contrary to applicable laws and regulations.
