I come from Colorado! Our state song is "Rocky Mountain High." by John Denver. Look, I get it... people like to "get high" in Colorado. The mountains are a metaphor for escapism and the feeling of vertigo that you get when you smoke too much or you end up light-headed from sucking too much air at elevation.
I'm giving myself a song-writing challenge this month. What could we sing over Colorado that is NEW? Of course we love the beauty of the sky and the mountains and of course there is just something very special about the Rocky Mountains in particular; but just like every state, I believe the greatest resource here is the PEOPLE. Somehow we may have lost sight of that.
I'm going to make it a challenge to sing a song about the various Coloradan's that I've known in my life and what about them makes them unique and special. What state are you from?
