After a meet up in my home town coming out of my morning recovery meeting I decided to go on an impromptu motorcycle ride with one of my buddies from my local clubhouse. As we were winding the back country roads of Douglas County in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains we were just enjoying a beautiful Sunrise and seeing the sights in rural Colorado. The local memorial gardens for veterans, my little country church in Sedalia and finally, my favorite breakfast diner, O'brien's Cafe on Santa Fe Blvd just North of Castle Rock, CO.
As my friend and I were talking across the breakfast table, we were just "chewing the fat" as they say and we covered everything from Motorcycles to Politics to The Baptist Church when my ears perked up. He said that for Valentine's Day this year, he wrote his wife a poem. She told him, every time he does it makes her cry. She said, "I don't want chocolates, or jewelry, just write me a poem." As I was listening to him talk, it struck me that even though my friend isn't a musician or a guitar player, he's a great poet and therefore a great lyricist. He would be a great CO-writer! I asked him if he'd every written a song and he said he hadn't but it sounded interesting.
This person is one of my favorite friends. I'm looking forward to sitting down with him, a notebook and a guitar and seeing what we come up with. Still looking for a Co-Writer?! Keep your eyes open, you just might find him or her in your circle of friends as you're slowing down to ENJOY LIFE! Have a GREAT month and happy Songwriting =). Wayne "P-dub" Hanson
