Best concert you have ever been to?

Jason Isbell’s solo acoustic show at The Shoals Theater in my hometown. The sold-out show was scheduled for my birthday. I had called months before and asked the theater to take my name down and call if any tickets came available – never expecting it to happen. The night of the show just before my birthday dinner, the theater called to wish me a happy birthday and tell me they had 2 seats available for me! A couple of hours later I was sitting about 6 rows from the stage for this beautiful, intimate show. It was the kind of magic that tends to happen in The Shoals community, and I had the best time.

What music are you listening to?

On a typical day, you will find me listening to a mix of Jason Isbell, John Prine, Tyler Lyle, Brandi Carlile, Leon Bridges, Shovels & Rope, Dawes, Amos Lee – I could go on. I especially admire storytellers who can transport you with their lyrics.

What drew you to NSAI?

Actually, NSAI found me, and I am incredibly thankful for that. I admire the many facets of NSAI’s portfolio and appreciate how our mission ties together professional and amateur songwriters, education and legislation, concerts and contests, and more. The cherry on top is that I am surrounded by hard-working, dedicated individuals who also have a hunger for their jobs because of their passion for the music industry.
