The registration form will not appear if you are not logged in on our website, as this event is solely for the Members of NSAI. You will only register with your name and email, please send MP3 and Lyric sheet in a word document to by end of day Friday, February 16, 2024.



You do not need to be present for this event; the session will be recorded, and a link to view the video will be distributed to all members that have registered on the "Event Date"



Steve has had a professional songwriting career for over thirty-years with songs recorded by Kenny Rogers, Mark Chesnutt, George Strait, Darryl Worley, Rhonda Vin- cent, Neal McCoy, Ricky Skaggs, Darius Rucker, Jake Worthington, and many more.

Along with multiple BMI awards, Steve received a Grammy Certificate for the title cut to Ricky Skaggs' 2004 Best Bluegrass Album of the Year "Brand New Strings.”

As a co-writer and mentor Steve was instrumental in the careers of artists Erin Ender- lin, Chris Stapleton, and Abbey Cone.

As an educator Steve was adjunct professor of Jazz History at Tallahassee Community College, Tallahassee, FL, a frequent guest clinician, and lecturer, at Morehead State University, Morehead, KY, Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, TN, and Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA.

From 2011-2013 Steve was Adjunct Professor of Songwriting at Belmont University, Nashville, TN.

Steve is Senior Faculty Member at Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), a member of Music & Entertainment Industry Educators Association (MEIEA), and National Music Publishers Association (NMPA).

From 2014-2018 Steve was Managing Partner of SNG Music Publishing responsible for the signing of songwriters Marty Dodson, Mark Nesler, Zarni De Wet (Berklee Col- lege graduate 2011), Abbey Cone, and others.

Starting March 2024 Steve will be offering a 12-week (37 hours) intensive course: The Craft of a Nashville Songwriter: How we did it in the 90’s and How they’re still doing it today! Classes will be held at The Nashville Musicians Association, 11 Music Circle N. For all inquires email:

Steve has released three CDs, as well as written the music and book for the full-length musical “Umbrella”. He tours regularly with “How Sweet It Is! Steve Leslie sings James Taylor” with artist representation at Epic Arts Management, New York, NY.

Steve received his BM in Guitar/Jazz Studies from Morehead State University, More- head, Kentucky.

Steve lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with his wife Amy, a public school educator/admin- istrator, and 2009 Teacher of the Year! He has two sons, Steven and Jacob.
